Spreading Word of Mouth with Shopify App Curebit

Word of mouth advertising is the best! It's regarded as one of the most effective channels for growing business. Companies like Groupon and Dropbox have done a great job harnessing this powerful mechanism to supercharge their growth. They skillfully enhance word of mouth referrals by providing a small incentive to have existing customers tell their friends how amazing the company and/or product is. This marketing system works for brick-and-mortar and online businesses alike. 

Curebit is a new Shopify App that lets you create your own referral program to incentivize your customers to bring their friends to your online store. Here's a short video that will give you the DL on how it works:

Essentially, the Curebit Shopify App sits on your receipt page and selectively serves up your offers to customers who've just made an order from your online store. For example, you might offer a deal that says: “Refer your best friend and both you and your BFF get 25% back!” Your customer can share this offer with their friends on Twitter, Facebook, email and IM. When a friend sees the offer and clicks through to look at the purchase, they're shown a landing page that explains the offer.

Curebit is still in beta, so Shopify store owners can try it for free. So far the response has been very positive. Shopify stores like DODOcase and Diamond Candles are already getting great results.

If you're interested in checking it out, here's what to do:

  1. Install the app.
  2. Then, you'll be redirected to create a Curebit.com account.
  3. Follow instructions to paste a piece of code into your Shopify admin, under Preferences -> Checkout & Payment.
  4. Select your incentive - for example "$5 cash back for you and your friend."
  5. Activate the campaign!!
