Our most popular course, “Accelerate growth with Shopify Plus products” walks through how you can optimize your store for a better customer experience. While learning about optimizing your store, you might decide you want to customize your checkout. We’ll cover how you can do that next.

3. Customize checkout experiences with Shopify Scripts

Boosting sales or optimizing conversion rates by just a couple of percentage points can make a big difference to your bottom line. In the past, you may have used special apps or workarounds to customize your checkout experience. Now with Shopify Scripts, available only to Shopify Plus users, you can set it and forget it.

With Shopify Scripts, you can:

  • Customize your checkout directly—both its look and feel, as well as customizing customer fields, shipping methods, and payment options
  • Personalize the checkout experience based on shopping cart values with the Script Editor

To increase average order values over Black Friday Cyber Monday, Brooklinen set up three discount “thresholds.” With Scripts, all of this took place automatically in a user’s cart:

Here’s how to start using Shopify Scripts:

  • Ask your Plus support team to help you clone your existing store to a staging instance (or testing site). With Shopify Plus, you can access multiple store instances at no extra cost.

  • Install the Script Editor.

  • Click “Create script” inside your apps. There you’ll find 15 script templates organized underline items, shipping rates, and payment gateways:

  • These 15 templates represent the most popular and profitable scripts. You can preview each script, edit the code, and apply your changes within your cloned store before copying them to your live store.

Editing or creating custom scripts may feel intimidating—especially if you aren’t used to coding in Ruby. You can get a full list of terminology, or “methods,” on this help page. The Script Editor also has its own guide, with several scripts examples you can apply immediately to your site.

For a user-friendly resource, refer to Gavin Ballard’s “Getting Started with Shopify Scripts: A Practical Walkthrough.”

If you’re working with a Shopify Plus Partner to develop a script, ask for the ability to adjust key variables like discount percentages and target product tags—so you can make the changes yourself later.

4. Save time and energy with ecommerce automation

Your time is your most valuable resource. Whenever possible, it’s important to free yourself or your team from working on repetitive, labor-intensive processes. And that’s where two of our Shopify Plus-only automation tools come in handy.

Shopify Flow

Shopify Flow is a simple visual builder that automates many customer-facing and back-office processes. Some of these automated business tasks include customer service, fraud prevention, design and development requests, merchandising, communications, and marketing and advertising (e.g. halting promotions when stock gets low or tagging customers for email segmentation).

Flow does this by storing and executing triggers, conditions, and actions you specify without any coding.

The team at Saski Collection built a workflow to automatically email its customer service team—telling them to send a $100 gift voucher to their top customers. During the first week, Saski Collection experienced a lift of 40,000+ website visitors, mostly from word of mouth about the loyalty program on social media.

You can use a similar workflow template to:

  • Start once a customer spends over $500 with your store
  • Be triggered based on the number of orders or average order value
  • Tag customers as “gold VIP” and email customer service to send them a personal thank you, coupon code, gift, or anything you see fit

Watch this video to learn more about Shopify Flow:

To streamline the time it takes you to create and implement a workflow, we recently announced new Shopify Flow templates. These templates take the guesswork out of which workflow you should use. You can browse a library of pre-made workflow templates and implement them in just a few seconds.

Additionally, you can review 11 downloadable workflow templates with use cases for more automation ideas.

Now that you’ve automated your back-end processes, what about making life easier for employees who set up and run your sales promotions?

Launchpad

Launchpad is a tool for planning and automating all the activities necessary to execute a flash sale, product launch, or sales campaign.

Amplified across four stores, Launchpad saves 100% Pure engineer Chris Tran 12 hours per sale or campaign. His time can now be directed towards solving other business challenges or innovating for future solutions. In the future, he’ll save hundreds of hours as he applies Launchpad for smaller campaigns and sales, too.

With Launchpad, you can pre-plan everything on your campaign to-do list and instantly roll it all back once the sale or event is over. You can learn more about Launchpad on our blog and by watching this video:

Once you’ve accessed Shopify Plus-exclusive tools, review the platforms you’re already using. We’ll discuss how to make them work better within your commerce ecosystem, next.

5. Power your store with API call increases and enterprise-level integrations

You can always continue to extend your store’s capabilities with apps. But for retailers experiencing rapid growth—particularly those with a range of SKUs, multiple online stores, online-to-offline retail locations, expanding supply chains, or international markets—you can also seamlessly integrate the third-party platforms you’re already using.

Some of those platforms include:

In each case, Shopify’s open API gives you the flexibility to customize and connect with the platforms you need most.

Companies like MORI leverage Shopify’s API to connect its store with its third-party logistics (3PL) to monitor performance in real-time

With developer support, you can also build your own private apps tailored to your store and unique challenges.

For example, Whimsy Rose built a custom product uploader with the Shopify API. Doing so helped them keep track of all its customer-created custom styles and prints—and manage the 2,000+ custom SKUs in-store and online. The custom orders are then printed and synced with their fulfillment solution, to be delivered within five days.

All merchants on Shopify Plus have access to exclusive APIs, and can have your API call limit doubled (to your private and public apps) after a review process. Your limit can be increased further on an as-needed basis, just reach out to your Plus support team.

Our support team is here for you—whether you need help with APIs, or creating multiple storefronts, which we’ll get into now.

6. Manage multiple stores (BETA)

Do you need to create and manage multiple international storefronts? Our new multi-shop management solution lets you manage all your stores, analytics, staff accounts, user permissions, and automation tools, like Shopify Flow, in one place.

With this dashboard, you’ll grow at the speed of your ideas—using the world’s most powerful and intuitive commerce platform.

  • Mobilize your entire team: Make it easier for your team to do their job with the right permissions and tools.

  • Strategize at scale: Get a quick snapshot of your business performance with a global view of analytics, staff accounts, stores, and workflows. Then, turn those insights into growth strategies to reach new markets and regions.

  • Automate to accelerate growth: Streamline your entire business and make room for growth by harnessing the power of ecommerce automation. For example, get a centralized view of all your Shopify Flow workflows. Doing so will save you time by simultaneously automating tasks across multiple stores.

We announced this new Shopify Plus experience at the Unite 2019 conference. There are many other upcoming products and features you don’t want to miss.

7. Get familiar with our 2019 Unite announcements

Shopify’s fourth annual partner and developer conference, Unite 2019, has come and gone. However, it’s still worth your time to review some of the products we announced, so that you can be the first to use our latest and greatest ecommerce tools. Here are a few highlights:

  • Order editing and advanced shipping profiles: You’ll soon be able to edit the quantity, variant, products, or shipping method in an order after a customer has paid—as long as it’s before the order has been fulfilled.

  • The Shopify Fulfillment Network: a geographically dispersed network of fulfillment centers with smart inventory-allocation technology. It will only be launched in the United States. If you’re interested in participating, eligible merchants can apply for early access.

  • Native support for digital media: Soon, you’ll be able to showcase your products in more immersive ways. You can combine video with 3D model assets, which will give customers a better understanding (and visualized experience) of what they’re buying.

  • Developer-focused tools: Giving you and your team the control you need to expand across new channels, customer segments, and markets. We announced new API versioning, and introduced a host of new APIs to provide access to Shopify products and features in the solutions you build.

Speaking of new tools, our wholesale channel can become your next biggest revenue stream.

8. Explore our wholesale channel

The wholesale channel lets you expand your business by creating a separate, password-protected storefront that's an extension of your online store. All your wholesale customers and orders are trackable under your current store's Shopify admin. It allows you to use existing product data and integrations and manage your B2C and B2B businesses from one place.

You can also offer customized price lists through an intuitive self-service buying experience. Your wholesale store is based on your online store, so you can offer wholesale buyers the same products offered to retail customers. Additionally, you can add exclusive wholesale-only products.

To get started, follow the steps outlined in the Help Center to install the wholesale channel. You can also watch the demo video below to better understand how the wholesale channel works.

Customize and scale your wholesale business by building an expansion store. Just ask your Plus support team to help you set up the expansion shop.

For more information, refer to this helpful overview in the Help Center.

9. Build instant credibility with an extended validation SSL (EV SSL) certificate

Little touches matter—especially when it comes to building your customers’ trust. Adding an Extended Validation SSL Certificate (also known as EV SSL) to your site is an added layer and signal of trust to your customers. They’re the highest form of SSL certification on the web—appearing in the URL window of all major browsers as a green lock, green text, or “Secure” message.

Shopify Plus automatically provides Level 1 PCI DSS compliance, a site-wide SSL certificate to redirect traffic from HTTP to encrypted HTTPS, data protection, and risk assessment for every order.

While all Shopify merchants can secure their stores with Domain Validated SSL, only merchants on Shopify Plus can set up EV SSL with their store.

Setting up your EV SSL only takes a couple of weeks at most to confirm, and can make a surprising impact on your bottom line.

10. Grow your business with unrivaled support

Expanding quickly, and drawing in hundreds of thousands (or even millions) in monthly sales can be overwhelming—and exhausting. The good news is you can now lean on all the support Shopify Plus has to offer.

Our merchant success program provides you with access to the right products, platform, and training to help you define a clear roadmap for success. We also offer 24/7 priority support.

Whether it’s a technical objective, a vision for the future, or support and guidance with a flash sale, Shopify Plus’ support teams work tirelessly—helping you make the most of your opportunities. They can also provide you with exclusive access to new feature betas.

Additionally, you can ask for assistance with third-party integrations, and help to find approved Shopify Plus Partners—to work on design and development projects specific to your business. These businesses are carefully curated, selected only for creating some of the best integrations with Shopify.
