I have always loved everything about fashion and since I was a little girl I have always been designing and playing around with a sewing machine . I took fashion merchandising in college but never design as the thought of it was way to scary for me to even imagine.
A few years ago I was playing around at home and made a bikini. Being pretty proud of it as I am completely self taught in design and sewing , I posted a photo on my social media . Within minutes I had almost 50 comments asking how they could buy one. Still not taking it seriously I spent a few months designing a few custom bikinis for myself and friends and it had such a large response I decided to come up with a name "Smooch Boutique" which is now known as Smooch Luxe. I had labels printed and registered my business and designed a simple WIX website.
The response and growth was so large and quick . I was not prepared for it. In the last year I have developed my little bikini business into a worldwide known brand that's expanding faster than I could imagine. I have been featured in some local Canadian magazines and just recently in UK Vogue and contacted by Sports Illustrated.
Words cannot express or describe the feeling. It really is a dream come true. something I was so scared to do in the beginning has turned into the biggest joy in my life . Even when I work a 24 hour day... I'm smiling and the benefits are so rewarding.. I'm so unbelievably happy and grateful that this is my job! We are now getting into manufacturing and branching into other clothing avenues including resort wear and lingerie, and been started designing beautiful jewel hardware for my bikinis.
I'm so excited to see what's to come in the next year as we have a lot of exciting events planned ! Thank you to Shopify who has helped my little business expand into what it is today and what it will be in the future
How did you earn your first sales? Which channels are now generating the most traffic and sales for you?
I originally posted by brand on social media before I had a website and was using a simple paypal account. I eventually developed a website with wix and a little over a year ago switched to Shopify which has been the best decision I've made.
Tell us about the back-end of your business. What tools and apps do you use to run your store? How do you handle shipping and fulfillment?
I use a pretty basic Shopify template. Shipping and fulfillment is all done manually by myself and my assistant.
