I started out without a thought of making it a business, because I remade a pair of boots for myself, posted them on instagram and suddenly people wanted to buy them.
I started to think about what my brand would be all about: fashion for the strong woman who doesn´t care about trends, who loves to travel, and who cares about the world. Therefore my jewelry is of reclaimed silver and remade selected vintage material. My boots and soon to be released clothingline is remade vintage and handmade here in my studio in New York. My customers appreciate that I am a small business, that they can personally interact with me about my products. They say that the pieces they buy from me are to keep forever. That is what I strive for!
How did you earn your first sales? Which channels are now generating the most traffic and sales for you?
I sold my first jewelry and boots by instagram. Instagram is still my biggest channel.
Tell us about the back-end of your business. What tools and apps do you use to run your store? How do you handle shipping and fulfillment?
I handle shipping myself, I don't use any tools besides excel at this point. When I´m growing bigger it will be a decision to make later on.
What are your top recommendations for new ecommerce entrepreneurs?
As long as your products are out there, you always have somewhere to refer your new clients or new retail buyers. Make sure you can share every product from your Shopify store to Pinterest/Twitter/Instagram/Facebook.
